bangolorooo and masanagudi

we went to bangalore a couple of weeks ago during a hindu festival for 5 days - it was a 30 min flight. bangalore is one of the high tech hubs of india, and very cosmopolitan (a note from my mom).
when we got there we hailed a cab to jayashree, mahesh and siddarth's house (old friends of dad's)
and when we got there we saw a buffalo and a cow tied at the end oft the street. we went inside the apartment and i started working on a book i am writing.
and then i got to swim in a gorgeous pool. i was not allowed to swim earlier because i had terrible ear infection.
after this visit we went to visit our other friends in bangalore, bejoy, beena and their daughter, nethra. she is 14 and very cool. after that, we all went to masanagudi, a national park/forest, 4 hours from banagalore. we rode in a cab with one of dad's other friends, aladi.
on the way we saw elephants, and there were these dumb people right behind the elephant. this is a dumb thing to do because the elephant mom could come charge and kill you.
and we also saw very very very cute monkeys.
when we got to the lodge, the owners were very friendly. first, we saw a little cute pug named nathu. he was friendly and fun to play with. and after nethra got over carsickness and being tired, we both played table tennis (ping pong) and badminton.
then when we had an amazing lunch of potatoes and chicken. they cooked me and amare chicken every single meal (except for breakfast).
the next day we went for an elephant ride and a safari. we saw elephants have a bath and we also got to.........ride on them! we also saw a mahoot and his elephant.
after that we went on a jungle safari. we saw a bison and an elephant family. it was so pretty.
we stayed one more night and then we went home. the night before we went elephant watching
this night we went to bejoy's treehouse (in the same lodge we were all staying at) and looked for elephants
the next morning we saw that there was fresh elephant poop in front of our house!!!!!!

  1. Dhani, this sounds like such a fun trip and you were so up close to the animals. I have a lot of family in Bangalore so have very good memories of that city. I am very curious about the book you are writing. Can't wait to hear more about it!

  3. I love the photos of the elephants, although your mom looks pretty concerned about riding up there. I also really enjoyed hearing about the gorgeous pool. I love the sound of the things you are doing, and the detail about the buffalo and the cow tied up at the end of the street where you went in Bangalore really showed me a picture and made me smile. See you soon!

    Love, Sarah
